Ben Muirhead

The Ben Muirhead Quartet draws inspiration from all aspects of music from Eric Dolphy and Charles Mingus to The Beatles, Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin. As the primary composer Ben leads the band through composition and the vibe of the band is being developed at all times. The first EP Looking Four Five had stylistic references to straight ahead, free jazz and modal jazz. Whilst the new material which was recently recorded at the Live Jazz Broadcast at Birmingham Conservatoire was more groove based and had nods to electronica and more contemporary styles of Jazz. The band prides itself on heavy grooves, roaring solos and sensitive interaction. Stay tuned for upcoming releases and projects from theBenedict Muirhead Quartet.
